The Irish Times
The Irish Times is an Irish newspaper and online publication. It started on March 29, 1859. Paul O'Neill is the editor. Deirdre Veldon is the deputy editor. It's published every day except Sunday.
The first appearance of a newspaper using the name The Irish Times occurred in 1823, but this closed in 1825. The title was revived—initially as a thrice-weekly publication but soon becoming a daily—by a 22-year-old army officer, Lawrence E. Knox (later known as Major Lawrence Knox), with the first edition being published on 29 March 1859.

• case study

I had the incredible opportunity of working in a project that involved the complete redesign of the Irish Times website. The main task was to design the website to make it easy for users to search for news and read articles.
My main goal was to create a design that would attract attention with its visual aesthetics and be intuitive for users. I paid special attention to creating a smooth and logical user journey allowing users to easily navigate the site's structure and find the information they were looking for without too much effort.

My goal was to create a user experience where any visitor, regardless of their technical skills or reading preferences, could easily and as quickly as possible find articles and news of interest. This included developing an intuitive content categorization system and implementing intelligent search and personalized recommendations.

Research and analysis

Before developing the website design, I conducted a competitive analysis. Many competitors were selected, including various websites of online newspapers.
02

Wireframing and prototyping

During the prototyping phase, I created a block structure to visualize what the interface of the online newspaper website would look like and where the different elements would be located. I started with simple diagrams to define the main areas and components such as buttons, menus, and input fields. I then moved to a more detailed prototype by adding all the text, fonts, and basic interactions to the pages. This process allowed me to see how users would interact with the site. I was able to make any necessary adjustments before the development phase began.

UI Design

During the design phase of the user interface for the online newspaper, I strived for design integrity by using similar elements. The use of a variety of colors and carefully selected images helped to create a finished and harmonious look. This approach not only provided aesthetic appeal but also helped to create a pleasant and intuitive user interaction, improving the perception and usability of the site.

• conclusion

In designing the online newspaper's website, I paid close attention and spent a lot of time creating article cards. This design element proved to be key, as it not only structured the information, but also gave the site visual integrity and uniformity.

The process

The article cards became a kind of link between the different sections of the site, providing easy navigation and an attractive appearance. Careful attention to this aspect of the design resulted in a harmonious and professional look for the online newspaper, which undoubtedly improved the user experience.

The article cards

In conclusion, I can say that the time and effort invested in the development of article cards has been fully justified. They became not only a design element, but an important tool contributing to the overall success of the newspaper. This experience once again confirmed how important it is to pay attention to even the smallest details when designing a website.
